It's Villanova for Canzeri

Well, that didn't take long at all.

I spoke to Troy High School football coach Jack Burger this morning, and he indicated that Canzeri's soft verbal to Villanova is now more firm - he will be a Wildcat in the fall.

As reported here yesterday, Canzeri had entertained late offers from Iowa and UConn, but Burger indicated that Indiana had also been in the mix.

"Villanova offers Jordan the opportunity to be an impact player right away," Burger said. The Wildcats compete in the Colonial Athletic Association of NCAA's Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA), but the Big East has extended an invitation for the 2009 FCS national champions to join the conference and the school has purchased property near its stadium, a move some see as a precursor to the stadium's expansion to meet Football Bowl Subdivision requirements.

Canzeri will make his decision official on Wednesday, Feb. 2 when he signs a National Letter of Intent at Troy High School.
