Latest girls basketball rankings

The latest New York State Sportswriters Association girls basketball state rankings have been released.

Shenendehowa remains 4th in Class AA despite their narrow victory over Burnt Hills last week. They are still the top ranked team in the NYSPHSAA as the three teams ahead of them are not part of the state's public school league - Christ the King and Brooklyn Nazareth of the CHSAA and Murry Bergtraum of New York City's PSAL.

Not too far behind the Plainsmen is Shaker, now ranked 8th in Class AA. The Blue Bison and the Plainsmen do battle in Clifton Park on Thursday.

Holy Names is ranked 12th in Class A. The only other Section II team that is ranked this week in Class A is 5th-ranked and undefeated Scotia of the Foothills Council.

Maple Hill leads three area teams ranked in Class B. The undefeated Wildcats are pegged as the 7th best Class B team in the state, leading 17th-ranked Watervliet and 21st-ranked Cohoes.

Finally, Heatly - unbeaten in the CHVL - has passed Fort Ann of the Adirondack League to become the top ranked Section II team in Class D. The Hornets moved up to 11th in the state, surpassing the Cardinals, whose loss to Class C's 5th-ranked Argyle, their second loss in three games, dropped them to 14th.
